Stanley Tanner Wray was born in Muncie, Ind., in 1907. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1923 and attended Earlham College the following year on the Goddard Scholarship, which had been awarded upon his graduation from Central High. Lee Bird Washbourne (b. 1906, Jay, Okla.-d. Aug. 1, 1970), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1927 with a commission in the Corps of Engineers.
